How Meridian collects, uses and protects personal data — for adviser/firm accounts, and for client data entered by advisers using the platform.

1. Who we are

Meridian ("Meridian," "we," "us") is a cashflow forecasting software platform for financial advisers and advisory firms, operated by Meridian Cashflow Technologies Ltd, incorporated in the United Arab Emirates ("Company").

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect personal data when you use Meridian, whether as a firm administrator, an adviser user, or a client whose forecast is prepared by an adviser using Meridian.

2. Two roles: Controller and Processor

This distinction matters and governs everything below.

  • Advisory firms and advisers using Meridian are the data controller for any client data they enter into the platform (names, ages, incomes, assets, expenditure, retirement plans). They decide what data to input and why.
  • Meridian acts as data processor for that client data. We process it only to provide the software, on the firm's instructions, under the terms of our Data Processing Agreement.
  • Meridian is the data controller for account-level data: adviser/firm login details, billing information, usage data, and support communications.

If you are a client whose adviser has entered your details into Meridian, your relationship for data protection purposes is with your adviser/firm, not with us directly. Direct any data subject request to them in the first instance; we assist them in fulfilling it.

3. What data we process

Account data (we are controller):

  • Adviser name, work email, firm name, role
  • Login credentials (hashed, never stored in plain text)
  • Billing name, address, payment details (processed by Stripe — we do not store card numbers)
  • Usage/log data: login times, IP address, device/browser type, feature usage

Client forecast data (firm is controller, we are processor):

  • Client(s) name, date of birth, country/tax residency, currency
  • Financial data entered by the adviser: assets, income, expenditure, growth/charge assumptions, retirement dates
  • For couples: data tagged to Client 1, Client 2, or Joint, including survivor/death-scenario assumptions
  • This data may be real client information or illustrative/dummy data — Meridian does not distinguish between the two and applies the same protections to both

We do not knowingly collect special category / sensitive data (health, biometric, religious, etc.) beyond what an adviser might input as free-text notes at their own discretion. Advisers are responsible for not entering sensitive data unless necessary for the forecast.

4. Why we process it and legal basis

We do not sell personal data. We do not use client forecast data to train third-party AI models or for any purpose beyond delivering the service to the firm that entered it.

5. Where data is hosted and international transfers

  • Application hosting: Vercel
  • Database: Supabase (PostgreSQL), with row-level security enforcing per-firm data isolation
  • Data is hosted on AWS infrastructure in the eu-west-1 (Ireland) region via our providers Supabase and Vercel

Where data is transferred outside the UAE (for example, to our EU-based hosting infrastructure), we rely on contractual data-processing terms with our hosting providers that impose security and confidentiality obligations consistent with UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data (PDPL). Full detail is in our Sub-processor List.

6. Data retention

  • Active accounts: data retained for the life of the subscription.
  • On cancellation: firm data retained for 60 days to allow export, then permanently deleted unless a longer period is legally required.
  • Account/billing records: retained for 6 years to meet standard accounting and tax record-keeping practice.
  • Firms can request immediate deletion at any time by emailing support@meridiancashflow.com.

7. Data subject rights

Depending on applicable law (UAE PDPL, UK GDPR for UK-connected data subjects), individuals may have the right to: access their data, request correction, request deletion, restrict or object to processing, and request portability.

  • If you are an adviser/firm user: contact us directly at support@meridiancashflow.com.
  • If you are a client of an advisory firm using Meridian: contact your adviser/firm first. We support firms in fulfilling these requests within 14 days of a verified request.

8. Security

See our Security page for full detail. In summary: encryption in transit and at rest, per-firm database-level access isolation (Supabase Row-Level Security), access-controlled authentication, and no local storage of financial data outside the platform.

9. Sub-processors

See our published Sub-processor List, which we keep current and will notify firms of material changes to.

10. Cookies

See our Cookie Policy.

11. Children

Meridian is a professional B2B tool. It is not directed at, and we do not knowingly collect data from, individuals under 18 acting in a personal capacity (client data entered by advisers about minors, e.g., school-fee planning, is handled as ordinary client data under the firm's instruction).

12. Changes to this policy

We will notify registered firm administrators by email of material changes and update the "last updated" date above.
